Dancing with another can be thrilling–or intimidating. Entering into partner dances, we bring with us our entire relationship history, imprinted in our bodies. Who will lead? Who will follow? How do I know if I am connected? What if you reject me? What if I don’t like you? What if I lose myself? How do I leave? What will happen next?
Join us in exploring the puzzle of moving with each other – alone, together, open, closed, lost, or found. Using the movement practice of Soul Motion, we will look at ways to relax into dancing solo and with partner(s) . . . “to bring the deep grain of love to the surface.” Experiment with us as we wake up out of the dream of separateness into the dawn of authentic communion.

WHO SHOULD COME:
This workshop is open to all: not only dedicated duet devotees, but also and especially beginners, the "partner-challenged", and anyone interested in deepening their dance, including movement teachers and those wishing to assist us in our programs.
WHAT WE WILL DO:
• spend plenty of time connecting deeply within–a necessary preparation for any meaningful contact with anyone else, on and off the dance floor
• practice maintaining that connection while in partner dances
• study how to enter into a movement interaction with others, how to sustain interest and integrity while in it, and how to leave
• work with our ability to set, recognize, and respect a boundary
• expand our tolerance for the range of feelings that arise in duets (the anxiety in not knowing what I'm supposed to do, the fear of rejection, the discomfort of intimacy, the pain of unmet longing, the excitement of contact... what's yours?)
• reflect on and discuss what we have discovered
• address individual questions and concerns
• deconstruct duet dynamics to allow our dances with others to feel less intimidating and more creative
Please note, both feeling awkward and exhilarated into surrender are part of the design. No guarantees which you will get to feel at any moment.... Maybe we can relax with that too.
