Soul Motion™: Freedom from the Known
~at last, another East Bay Committed Series!
This six week committed group is open to anybody interested in a concentrated, action-packed, and multi-layered immersion into the landscapes of Soul Motion.
More than a dance class, this program is a spiritual inquiry into the nature of embodiment, a simultaneous deep dive into the body and dissolution into spirit. We will investigate relationships between energy, motion, and space, between people, and between worlds.
Explorations in this series will include both stillness and movement: with and without music, with and without instruction, with and without partners, and with and without witness(es), as well as other interactions among each other with and without words.
Body and movement practices inspired by other awareness-based systems (for example, Gestalt Awareness Practice, Continuum Movement, Kum-Nye, and other Tibetan practices) will be included to deepen our inquiry into what it means to be alive in this mysterious and magnificent human body.
Sure, we will have a great deal of fun dancing. And, participants will also be asked to stay open to the realms of sensing, feeling, and spirit. The material we will work with is designed to challenge and perhaps change us. It will involve taking risks and surrendering attachment to preferences and expectations based on what think we know from the past.
As Krishna Das once said, “We do this practice in order to be alive while we’re alive.”
